The One for Christmas

You know Ginger and Sandy,

And Zona and Cali,

Mesa and Molly,

And Stella and Wally.

But do you recall
The cutest DIVA of all?

Phoenix the doxie diva
Has a very shiny coat
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows
All of the other doggies
Used to laugh and call her names

They never let poor Phoenix
Play in any doggie games

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say,
"Phoenix with your coat so bright
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"
Then all the doggies loved her

And they shouted out with glee,

"Phoenix the doxie diva
You'll go down in history!"
We hope everyone has a
wonderful Doxie Diva Christmas!

The One Where They're Going to Party!

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all thru the room,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a vacuum;
The stockings were hung by the fish tank with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
Ginger and Cali were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Greenies danced in their heads;
And Phoenix and I snuggled tight by the tree,
Had just settled down to catch a few z's.

When out on the deck there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the couch to see what was the matter.
Away to the door I flew like a flash,
Pushed open the blinds and gulped down a gasp.

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew it must be St. Nick.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight,

"Happy Christmas to all and
to all dogs a good life!"

The One with the Wish

Repeat Day #2: My Christmas Wish

The One with the Christmas Eve Wish

On Christmas morning, I wish...

For every dog and cat searching trash cans for breakfast,
a filled bowl with his name printed in bright letters.

For every dog who slept fitfully last night
chained in a frozen yard and every cat
who wandered the cold streets,
a soft, warm bed with a person snoring gently nearby.

For every lost pet, a clear, safe road and
well marked path to lead you home.

For every shelter animal, spending Christmas
morning in a soiled run, a forever home
filled with sounds and smells of family.

For every "Christmas" pup and kitten given today,
a tolerant, caring owner who won't abandon you
as you grow into a real dog or cat.

For every ailing pet, enough money for your
owner to pay the bills to make you well.

For every old and tired friend, a warm fire and
soft bed to ease your aches and pains.

For every pet at the Bridge, a moment when
you know that you are remembered today,
missed again and loved forever.

The One with the Tiny Tree

As many of you can relate, it's been so busy around here that I've been neglecting my blogging. It's no secret that it's time consuming supervising all of the Christmas preparations that by the end of the day, I'm anxious to crawl into bed and snuggle!

So, as a lead up to my 2010 Christmas post, I decided to run some repeats. I was wondering what to start with and found myself gazing at the tree. The two-leggers got a teeny-tiny tree this year. Mom said it has something to do with a time crunch right after Christmas and not having time to take down a full sized tree. And NOT having a live tree is not is something mom can fathom. So, a tiny tree it is! It's a live tree so the plan is to plant it outside. (Dad said something about the ground being frozen so I predict a highly comical blog post in the future.)

I'm still stuck on why mom is worried about the time it takes to undress the tree. Last year it only took her about a minute and a half... with a break! Remember?? . . . . . . .

The One Where the Tree Moves Out... Again!

Well today was moving day! The tree is now back outside where it belongs and the house has been returned to it's pre-Christmas state! Papa loves putting the tree up, as you saw earlier, but HATES taking it down. In fact, he hates seeing any of the decorations in the removal process. So mom waits for a day when he'll be at work and blitzes the clean up in one shot. I hate to boast but my mom can be pretty efficient when she puts her mind to it. Take a look!

Normally this can be a tedious task but with the wind chill often below zero today, we didn't mind staying inside to do chores!

We did get outside now and then to get some fresh air and to visit our boys. I think they missed us a little bit last week. They charge mom when she lets them out in the morning, with no regard for the cold temps, and quack up a storm! I think they're just asking for treats but mom insists they're asking for their best friend: Cali.

The One where Wally Decorates

Remington's snow has arrived at The Park!!

I'm pretty stuffed. I helped mom shovel the deck.

I burned off those empty calories by a rousing game of chase in the snow. If you listen closely, you can hear Wally and Stella cheering me on!

Speaking of my ducks, they showed off their Christmas decorations today.

The chickens aren't as happy about the snow as we are.

And one last video.... Frankie... you might not want to watch this!

The One with Scarlet

I know it's Wordless Wednesday but the most amazing thing happened today! My very much good two-legger friend Stacey came by today and brought a friend. A FEATHERED friend. Even though us dog-types had to watch from behind the glass door, it was SO cool!!! I think papa enjoyed it the most.

Notice Wally and Stella?
Can you imagine what they were thinking? BOL!
Here are some action shots Stacey has taken of Scarlet flying back to her fist.

Amazing isn't it? You KNOW my mom would be worried about getting flapped in the face or dropping the food at the last second. But Stacey is so amazing and so calm! It's no wonder she's one of the limited few on my loved list.

She told us that Scarlet, a 6 month old Red-Tailed Hawk, can see a mouse a MILE away! Her and I could be a great team... with her eyes and my ears.... There's so much to know about falconry... I should Google it so next time I have more cool facts!

The One After the Busy Week

Hello? Is anyone still checking my blog? I feel like I've been away for 87 days!!

It's been busy around here! We had some snow...

Even though it melted really fast it was time to make sure the heat box was still working...

Then one day mom came home from work with TREATS for us from Miss Katherine. The looked SO delicious that I wanted all of them but mom said I had to share.

I picked the orange one because it had a smidgen more frosting than the others it's papa's favorite color.I have been begging mom to go to my post office box to collect my cards. She FINALLY did...

I read them all to Phoenix. Mom hasn't been back to the post office since - argh! - but she promised me she'd stop there today. I'll keep you posted.

Let's see... what else has been happening....

We've been collecting eggs like crazy! Yesterday there were EIGHT! Usually we get 2-3 a day.

Oh... and I almost forgot!! Mom also got THIS from work... I wonder if Mango knows about this??
