The One with Thankful Fur Three

Below I'll answer your questions about my tasty nom from Monday's post but FIRST... I am so honored to have been asked by Daisy and her mom over at The Teacher's Pets to host her Thankful Fur 3 Thursday Blog Hop! I'll let The Teacher take it away...
Welcome to Thankful FUR 3 Thursday! Why did I create this Thursday blog hop, you ask? Simply put, my three kiddos (Henry, Buster, and Daisy) want to meet three or more friends on their favorite day of the week and I thought their idea was pawsome!

This blog hop is FUR our loyal followers but it is also for NEW Google Friend Connect followers as well! If you are a NEW Google Friend Connect follower and if you want to be one of the 3 blogs to be in next Thursday’s SPOTLIGHT you need to leave a request in the comment box and please hurry if you are interested because only the FURst 3 requests count!

I like to keep things simple so here are the 3 guidelines FUR the blog hop:

1. To join in the Thankful Fur 3 Thursday, include your link in our list, follow the hostesses (The Teacher’s Pets and my lovely Shepherd-Hound mix pal Zona and my 5 minutes down the road friends Life With 5 Dogs) in the first 3 spots and then start blog hopping! Visit other blogs on the list and comment to give them some blog love. Then take a minute to follow them through Google Friend Connect – this is a good way to keep up with other blogs, but also lets us show support to each other! Please DO NOT list your giveaways here, links must be to either your homepage or your Thursday posting with your blog title. All others will be deleted.

2. When people comment on your blog and let you know they’re a part of Thankful FUR 3 Thursday, return the favor and follow them back. This way everyone gets traffic and followers out of participating, and it’s a win-win situation. We would think it was pawsome if you grabbed our Thankful FUR 3 Thursday button and post it on your blog and/or in a post but please don't feel obligated to do so! The more bloggers that find out about Thankful FUR 3 Thursday and participate, the better!

3. Remember, YOU can host the link list on your blog too! Just click “Get the code here…” at the bottom of the list on The Teacher's Pets blog!
I got lots of questions about that yummy bone I had the other day. It's a very rare but special treat. My mom is super particular about what we eat for meals and snacks, not that she takes those same precautious with her own diet! This is pure junk food and I love it!! It's a Red Barn Filled Rolled Rawhide and it's completely bad for you so I only get them now and then. But oh my dogness do we love those days! BOL! It's really crumbly so the typical rawhide choking concerns are moot.

Though I should take this opportunity to plug Miss Cali's all time favorite rawhide: Wholesome Hide USA Retriever Rolls. They are a much safer alternative to the usual rawhide rolls. She read about them in the Whole Dog Journal. They are made from one thick piece of rawhide, making them less of a choking hazard and longer lasting. In addition, they are from American cattle and 100% US made, which mom loves. They are free from dyes, flavoring, chemicals and other harmful processes. :: end commercial segment ::

You'd think Cali sells them the way she makes me post about them but I have to admit, they do grow on me. That is when mom deems it's appropriate for us to have one! Sheesh!

The One Where We Roast Puddles

As most of you know by now, since she’s been announcing it for about 258 days, Miss Puddles Duddles Marie Rainwater is turning TWO. Sam & Pippen thought the most appropriate celebration would be a roast!

I thought I would bring some sausages and maybe some marshmallows but I was told it wasn’t that kind of roast. Phoenix chuckled and gave me this…

• 1 beef bottom round roast, about 3 to 4 pounds
• 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
• salt and pepper
• 3 to 4 slices bacon, cut in half crosswise
• 1 cup chopped onion
• 1 cup apple juice
• 1 can (10 3/4 ounces) condensed beef broth
• 4 tablespoons cider vinegar

Rub bottom round beef roast with---- wait wait…

Mom said weeks ago that it wasn’t this kind of roast either. Besides, I couldn’t bear to roast Puddles’ bottom. It’s her best feature. We see it on her bloggie weekly!

So I looked online to see what a celebrity roast is all about. The Friar’s Club apparently has the best roasts. I do love fried things!

I’m not as good at the funnies as Puddles so my Puddles Roast is more of a Puddles… Tribute.

I haven’t known Puddles that long. But she’s taught me a lot so far.

She’s taught me geography.

I live in Virginia and it feels awfully north to me. Puddles said she lives in the south and that there are things like couches on porches. I have that in my area too… and not always on the porch, just sometimes right in the yard! Puddles said that would definitely be considered the south.

Puddles has taught me that drinking beer (or moonshine) makes any occasion more fun.

Or even fancy-shmancy drinks!

She has her very own train. It brings cases of beers right to her house!

Puddles has taught me how to clean the vets floors, how to model for pictures and even how to steal kibble from your sister.

She lives in a pretty dangerous place – she’s had to protect her family from widderbeasts and giant groundhogs! Even though mom doesn’t think all of these new lessons are as great as I do, we all agree that Puddles is a tough "character" and we wish her a most fantastical birthday!

The One with Bees and Frogs

Papa was ATTACKED today! This frog jumped right out of the po--- okay, no one is going to believe that. He was pulling weeds and disturbed a nest of yellow jackets! He was stung on his hand...

And then when he turned around - the back of his leg too! Somehow... this happened....

And then this happened...

Remember The Boarder? He's still hanging out with the ducks. Mom says he probably can't get out but when she has tried to catch him to put him in the big pond, he dives under the water and mom said no way is she going in there!

The weather was cooler today so I got to play zoomies for awhile. It's great to be outside!

The One Where We Celebrate

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

She is FOUR today. Time flies! Her birthday party is scheduled for later tonight but you can check out last year's party for now. There's even a link to some puppy photos. Awww!

I want to say thank you for all of the nice comments you all left for me while we get back on our paws over here. I've been busy snuggling with my two-leggers. Being a supportive puppy entails long hours sometimes and I haven't made it to many of your bloggies since late last week. I'll be back on schedule tomorrow though so don't think I've forgotten any of you!

The two-leggers did get out for a little bit today to go fishing on the river for a couple of hours. Not much luck but they said it was as pretty as ever!

They returned home to find that the pool vacuum is on the blink and... worse... the Airstream door locked us out.

They had to break a window to get in and papa had to work really hard and say some of the words Puddles' neighbors use to get the broken lock to bust free. I guess it's a good thing we didn't go camping this weekend. Us pups could have been locked INSIDE! If that were the case, mom might have used those naughty words. BOL!

Please remember to stop over at Miss Molly's blog today. She's still needing the power of the paw! Get well soon Molly!!

The One Where We're Sad

It's been a sad couple of days here at the park.

As you'll notice, the countdown has changed. While we're all very excited about Dr. Aunt Katie's visit, the surprise I was going to announce in 10 days, sadly, will not be.

We're all pretty bummed out about this but maybe, in the future, I will be able to surprise everyone with some news but I can tell you it won't be as soon as I'd hoped.

In the meantime, I've been really busy working hard to cheer up my two-leggers. Cali even broke out her duck bill to get some chuckles.

We've also been trying staying out of the heat. Holy bones is it hot out there. I went to check the thermometer but there was only a scorch mark and this message: "Forward mail to Alaska." (I wonder how much mail that thermometer actually gets.)

Some GOOD news is that I hear mom and papa talking about possibly taking us on a longer trip than we had planned, basically taking those few days between our two trips and making it one giant trip. Now THAT I like! I'll keep you posted.

I hope everyone is staying cool in this weather! Makes me almost want to swim!

The One with the Toes

I have to tell you, Cali got some good chuckles out of your initial thoughts as to what my last post was about by the title.

Not much happening around here. I am sad to say that our trip to the place with the Natural Jelly has been postponed until the fall. Instead we'll be hanging out with the two leggers by the pool mostly. I might be able to give you a couple of clues about the surprise this weekend... keep your paws crossed!

Last night we collected some veggies from the garden...

And then...

Yep, papa clipped Phoeny's nails. She's so good. Cali and I aren't as willing to to get pedicures. I'm always nervous he's going to take some of my toes off! Safety-wise (for the two legger), this upright position is not recommended but Phoenix is Phoenix. And the two leggers trust her. (I don't know if I would!)

The One with the Floater

Another hot day here but it was cloudy so that helped! I spent some time checking on Wally and Stella to make sure they were comfortable with all this heat. Stella spends most of the time floating in the pond. Wally dunks his head in from time to time but he's not too keen on swimming much. I think he still thinks he's a dog.

The One with the Laundry

Happy Sunday to all! With this sweltering heat, we've been quarantined to the inside practically all weekend. Mom says it's "too hot" to be chasing my nemesis all day. Papa was home yesterday, which is always fun. He has been having some trouble sleeping. Maybe tonight I should break out one of my tricks. It's wears him out fast. It's like taking a baby on a car ride!

He's back at work today so I've just been supervising mom as she gets some chores done. Well, as she TRIES to get some things done. I have to keep motivating her. Like right now, all she's doing is gazing around the room and considering a nap. I better make this short so I can remind her about the laundry. I should ask Benny and Lily to come over. Lily is great at laundry.

The One with BRWC

Click on the above badge for more info!

I'm coming into this blog topic late in the game but I knew the perfect place to highlight!

Click to visit - they have lots of cute pictures!

Two of my most favorite two-leggers, The Crazy Cat Lady AND Ms. Stacey, both volunteer at this wonderful center. They do so much to help injured, orphaned and sick native wildlife. The center rescues and provides veterinary care until the critter is well enough to be released back to the wild.

In addition to this tall task, they monitor wildlife for environmental toxins and contagious diseases, man a hotline which provides the public with helpful information and advice AND offer education programs about the valuable role of native wildlife in our environment! It's no wonder Ms. CCL and Ms. Stacey are so busy all the time. Aren't they amazing?

Mom's been able to meet a lot of these wonderful creatures. And one time mom even got to meet a screech owl before he was released. I wasn't allowed to go visit him. Can you imagine that?

The One with the Plans

What a dull day it was. Mom had to work - AGAIN - and left us TWICE to go to appointments. What in the world?? Not only that, she's saying since "we" didn't sleep well last night, we're going to bed early. I slept just fine. But you know how it is... you gotta babysit those two-leggers 24/7!

This photo creeps my mom out.
Papa did give her the green light to make some plans for a somewhat impromptu trip in the Argosy next weekend. She said it's someplace with a lot of natural jelly... or something like that. I guess we'll find out for sure in a week or so.

The trip after THAT, we're going to a.... oh, Puddles is going to love this... a NASCAR race. BOL! Can you imagine... ME at a NASCAR race? Or even better, can you imagine my MOM at a race? Oh my dogness, that is funny! But papa said it's a once in a lifetime opportunity AND that we'll be on TV. (No, that's not my surprise for you.) But I will give you the details when we get closer so you can look for my floppy ears or at least the shiny ring of Airstreams in the in-field. (That's the inner part of the race track. I'm already learning the redneck racing lingo.)

Tomorrow promises to be even more boring around here but maybe something exciting will happen. Despite the demise of the plum tree, my nemesis and his friends are still around - just a bit further from my post at the sliding glass door. I do like a challenge!

The One with the Photos

Not much going on here today! Mom had to work so it was bbooorrring. Before the evening rain came, she took us outside and I suggested a photo shoot.

"GUYS!!!! Come here let's model for my bloggie post!"
"Whoa... not so close up, mom!"
"A little further....""Ack!! Delete that one my ears are all wacky.""That's better.--- Phoenix, it is so better!!"
PeeS: Mom is super excited that Jim Parsons was nominated for an Emmy for one of our most favorite shows. We're off to make some popcorn and watch a Big Bang Theory marathon to celebrate!
