The One on Memorial Day

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

To those who have fallen in service
to our country and those who
continue to serve,
and to their families,
a heartfelt thank you
the freedom we enjoy.

I'd also like to thank our
countless canine veterans.
An estimated 100,000 brave dogs
have served in the
United States military
over the past century.

We salute these four-legged veterans
and their handlers.

Thank you.

I hope she doesn't mind but I especially
like DogsMom's Memorial Day post.

The One on Sunday

What a great Sunday we had!

I explored giant dirt piles.

Cali let an innocent stick know what she thought about it!

I teased my sisters into a game of chase!

I tried to talk Wally & Stella into joining us but they said no. They were too busy entertaining their frog and investigating the watermelon mom put in their food bowl.

So we decided to look for my nemesis: that blasted tree rat.

We couldn't find him so I decided to turn it around to work in my favor with my "aren't I a good girl for not chasing the squirrel" eyes to coerce mom into giving us some treats.

After the subsequent snack, I took a nap in one of my favorite places - my sand box.

I was able to take one picture with my Zona Cam before my camera went to sleep. Seemingly forever. Boo!

It was a great day. We are pooped!

The One with the Slide

My papa comes home from his business trip this afternoon! I've been practicing my hide-n-seek skills in preparation. I wonder what surprises he'll bring us this time. When he's away we pretty much take it easy. Now if we had a slide into our pool maybe we'd have a little more fun when he's away like this fella.

After being away for a few hours, these two-leggers were
always finding water all over their pool deck and furniture.
They thought the neighborhood kids were watching for them to leave
and using the pool. However, they could never catch them doing it.
So they set up their video cam and left. This is what they found out!

We pretty much sit around listening to the frogs talk to each other. Zzz...

If that fails, there's always our usual go to game, as long as the nanny cam is off!

The One with Friendly Friday

Welcome to my first installment of . Today is my inaugural theme day! Papa helped me come up with the theme since we all know from my titles and references that mom is obsessed with the Friends TV show! So the thought is that on Fridays I can blog about, well, FRIENDLY things.

On this first post, I'd like to highlight, in my opinion, the ultimate FRIEND: Best Friends Animal Society. There are so many wonderful friends of animals out there but I chose Best Friends today because not only is their name perfect for my new theme day, but also because they do great work with animals, especially those that might be unjustly stereotyped by their looks. Not to mention one of mom's two-legged rescue transport partners travels out to Utah each summer to volunteer at the sanctuary. Isn't that wonderful? I wish I could go too. I'm shy around people but boy do I love dogs!

A little closer to home, I have noticed a few of friends watching me when I'm playing.

This guy even has binoculars!!
There's even one of their buddies inside!

The One with Stella

Thanks for all of your nice comments about Wally & Stella! Yes, they are both boys. BOL! They were young when we adopted them and were SURE that Stella was a girl. Alas, she is a he! If there can be a Boy Named Sue... there can be a Boy Named Stella, right??

The two-leggers ALWAYS watch us with them but, I have to say, they love us. They came from different homes but were both raised in kennels with dogs and seemed to take comfort in our company when they came to live here. You can read about their story in the Meet My Pack section, they're toward the bottom of the page. The two-leggers know Wally & Stella can't be unsupervised with us but they try to get some "face time" in now and then in case of a surprise meeting, as we had yesterday.

Today was a slow day. Thus the virtual repeat of yesterday's post. Mom was at work and papa was getting ready for work. We snoozed mostly. Gotta get ready for the long weekend, you know? What do you all have planned? Any BBQs? I LOVE BBQ!

I uploaded this video of the two big fish papa caught yesterday just for you, Rodger! I can't believe I missed it. Boat's too small.. what a terrible excuse!

The One with the Escape

Today started out rather quiet. Since it's Wednesday, mom was working from home. Papa was doing some chores outside so mom joined us in the yard during a break to do some housekeeping for Wally and Stella. The back of the house has a sliding door so it's easy to scoop the straw out for cleaning. I tell you this because usually mom opens the lid, takes the door out, does some cleaning and closes the lid to walk the straw over to the discard pile, leaving the door space open until she walks back with fresh straw. Notice anything strange about this photo?

Yep, Stella is on the OPPOSITE side of the fence from Wally! TODAY Stella decided to waltz on out the back door!! Mom wandered back to notice that Phoenix and Stella were both playing outside the fence. She did a double take!

Shortly, Wally and Stella were reunited once more! Cali and I have visited with the boys before but Phoenix is always more.... supervised... by the two-leggers so this was an exciting adventure!

By a little after four in the afternoon, the two-leggers headed to the river. We had to stay home - something about it being too hot out and not enough room on the boat. We need a big boat like Cap'n Frankie!

There were LOTS of these guys sunning
themselves, so I hear. Cool!
Reeling it in!

Over 10 pounds!!
Heading back to his friends.

The One with the Work Day

It was a lazy Monday. Papa was still away for work collecting wine, apparently, and mom left at an undogly hour to head to work herself. After our long fun-filled vacation, I was pooped!

After a visit from our beloved two-legger, Stacey, Phoenix was re-energized by the afternoon and was ready to play some basketball.

Cali was more interested in checking out the perimeter. She's in charge of Border Patrol.

The park is in full bloom.

Cherries are getting ready!

This one is for Max.
