The One with All the Bees

Today started off rather benign. Papa left for work very early and mom was chained to her work laptop for many hours. Cali took up her usual post - crammed under the TV table mom uses for her computer when she works in the living room.

There was plenty of room on the floor and many beds and couches available but Cali loves these tight spots! When mom is in the house - day or night - you'll notice she has no leg room. I think she secretly loves it, even when she grumbles about her stiff limbs! When she looked up from her work and realized the sun was out in the afternoon, we got to go for a leisurely walk in the park.

The plum tree is always the first to fully bloom.

This time of year there's always an interesting buzzing sound as we zoom by on the way to the grass. That means...

Yep. Bees. And I mean LOTS of BEES. This guy above times at least 100! Like Dr. Aunt Katie, Phoenix hightails it back inside when she hears that telltale "bzzzz."

"No way. There are BEES out there!"
Cali tried, without luck, to coax her out with a playful look and a brave stance under the bee-- under the plum tree.

She could not be swayed by the pretty sights and sweet smells either!

Mom eventually convinced her that the bees would stay in the tree and she could zip by to other flowering trees. Flowering trees without bees!

The One with the Sheep

Well, the two-leggers both went to work this morning. It was a dull, rainy day but we did get some playtime in with our friend Stacey and I tracked my nemesis through the window, which made the day enjoyable. When the rain cleared, I couldn't help but notice the blooms on the plum tree.

After mom got home, we played in the yard and.... well....

Let's just say, one of us got a bath tonight.

Now we're heading to bed to count gummy sheep that papa brought us from Germany.

The One with the Zona Cam

It's been a flurry of activity around here! We finally got some rest earlier when the two-leggers were out and about for a little while.

Papa's been working this week but was able to get some mulch today, which kept him busy until he had to get ready to leave. I supervised!

Mom's just over half way through her break so the to-do list is shrinking! She's been keeping up with work projects so she doesn't get behind but most of her energy has been directed toward a few closets, which were organized and "thinned out," and toward those pesky taxes and that pile of personal paperwork. It's funny what she finds exciting.

I think you'll agree that MY day is more exciting! One of the delightful finds when mom cleaned out the closet downstairs was a Christmas gift from Santa: my OWN camera!! Mom got it charged up and let me play with it today - only three months late, right? See it there on my collar?

We discovered that I spend more time than I'd thought looking out the window...

And watching mom wander around...

Not to mention that sometimes I'm so fast, the pictures are just a blur...

Sometimes I'm fascinated by a random tree...

Or corner of the ceiling...

Then, of course, there is how intently I watch papa get ready for work. :: sigh ::

Despite papa having to leave this afternoon (after meticulously straightening his socks and pants), it was a fun day! Lots of outside time and sitting on the hill with mom.

We'll see what tomorrow brings! I believe the weatherman said rain. Boo!! Mom said it'll only be for one day and it will help flowers bloom. I guess I'll allow one day of rain.

The One With a New Deck

Today started out with some rain but cleared up after a bit so papa made use of the wet day and power washed the house and deck. It looks like new!

By the evening, mom had finished working on the laundry room reorganization and papa finished power washing so we got some time to run and play in the late sunshine!

The One with MáMá

My entire pack - two and four-legged - wish a great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to MáMá!! Phoenix and I haven't met her yet but we do see each other in 2-D on the network cameras we have. Cali has met her a couple of times and says she understands why MáMá is one of mom's favorite two-leggers! Cali says she and mom are always laughing and talking about things like "Clean Closet Parties" and all the summers Aunt Katie and mom spent traveling with MáMá and PáPá. Ginger even got to visit them in Florida a few times before they moved west to Arizona! Maybe someday my two-leggers will take a few weeks off of work and we can all Airstream west to met her and PáPá. Wouldn't that be great fun?

Papa... are you reading this? WEEKS of camping, can you imagine?! Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I'll let you know when I sway him to my side. In the meantime, Happy Birthday, MáMá!

The One with the Explanation

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Today is the first day of mom's SPRING BREAK!

I took a peak at her ever present list and it's mostly boring stuff: deep cleaning the house, climbing Mt. Washmore in the laundry room, attacking closets, finishing work projects - wait, WORK? On break?! That stinks. I'm excited for the fun stuff on the list: taking long walks, helping papa set up the pool, working on Stella & Wally's enclosure, planning some camping trips and getting the Airstream road-ready. I LOVE spring!

Though there's one thing on her list I didn't recognize: taxes. So I googled it. Papa Michael, this one's for you!

The One with Thursday in Pictures

I love that the evenings are staying lighter longer! That means more time outside to enjoy the early days of spring! So many things to investigate...

Ginger's Tree
With some coaxing, we did convince Cali to come down from her gloomy post on the deck. By the end of the evening, we even got some wrestling time! Mom made us stop because she was worried I'd hurt Cali's sensitive mouth but Cali didn't seem to mind one bit! Each day she's feeling better! I bet she feels fine now but likes the extra pampering.
