The One with the Update

Thanks for all of your prayers. Phoenix is stuck in the jail at Dr. Mitchell's office for a few more hours but they gave her some of Puddles' Kool-Aid so she's doing fine!

By the time she got to the office, she was able to stand and shuffle around... not to mention wag her tail, which is a good sign!

We'll know more when mom picks her up this afternoon but, considering her movement and area of pain, they are confident that she has not ruptured a disc but has essentially pulled a muscle. Mom is hopeful but not sure about this. She'll feel better talking to the vet this afternoon and seeing Phoenix for herself. Either way, this means that disc problems will now be even more likely in the future so mom says I have to be extra careful not to play too rough with her when she's feeling better. For the next few days she won't be able to play at all. She has to be kept calm and... cooped up.

  1. Good news that she is doing better. We hope she will be back to normal soon. But you are so right, have to be careful to let things heal. Not easy to do with energetic pups:( Thanks for the pupdate.

  2. This is good news. Glad your vet thinks it is a pulled muscle not IVDD. My greatest fear is having one or both of my dogs going down with back problems. Email if you need anything.

  19. Thank you for the pupdate, Zona. I'm thinking really good thoughts for Phoenix. I can't wait to hear what the mom and your V.E.T. talked about. (Oh, and when Brudder Ranger hurt his back, he was just hiking his leg to pee! Luckily, Phoenix doesn't hike her leg. Does she?)
