The One Where it's... Contagious?

Thanks everyone for asking about Phoenix. She is doing much better. She's still using my crate when mom and papa are away and she still isn't allowed to run and play quite yet but she's feeling lots better! She is using the steps to get on and off the bed and seems like her old self. Mom was even able to cut back on her medicine a little, which is great news for Phoenix.... and me. We have lots of extra meds in case Phoenix had another episode and now we'll have a little more.... or will we?

Last night I stepped onto the couch (I don't have to jump since my legs are so long) and whimpered a little. Mom and papa looked at each other like, "Did we really just hear that?!" Then I was fine until this afternoon. I even endured an unscheduled bath this morning (thanks to the perfume outside) and didn't have a bit of trouble getting in out out of the tub. (Hmm... now that I'm thinking about it, that was a miscalculation on my part!)

But later I cried when I tried to get on the couch. I quickly gave up on that and went to lay in my crate, despite Phoenix having a blankie and toys in there. After my rest, mom then gave me a very handsy exam. Nothing seemed to bother me and I was okay, though not on the couch, for awhile.

Later, when she got back from the store I tried to jump up in excitement (I like to dance in the kitchen when she comes home) and screamed out... and yelped again when I tried to run to her a few minute later outside. Mom noticed that when I rub my itchy face with my right front leg, my back right leg shakes. Mom gave me some of Phoenix's extra anti-inflammatory medicine. I hope that helps. I hate worrying my mom. She waited about 20 minutes and then moved me all around again and made me give standing high fives and sitting high ten... no problems or shakiness. Then I stepped on the couch, I like to snuggle... and made it okay but did whine just a tiny bit.

What is going on here???

  3. Oh My Dogness, Zona, you poor little thing! As if the bath itself wasn't bad enough and now you're in pain too? You have me so worried now.

I'm glad Phoenix is doing better. You all take care of yourselves over there, I don't want to hear that Cali is next!

Will continue to keep y'all in my prayers.

  4. Sounds like a muscle pull. We get them sometimes and have to take it easy for a few days. Mom gives us a pill to make it feel better and she helps us up and down from furniture. We hope that's all that you have going on.

  6. Oh no! It has to be the Kool Aid!

Or maybe a muscle pull. Or....did you check the floor or outside area for broken glass or any little irritants? Awhile back I had a mysterious foot injury that came and went. After hundreds of dollars of doctor bills, it turned out it was a mini piece of plastic stuck in my paw that bothered me when I moved certain ways. It was too tiny to see but Dawn found it after letting water run over my feet. Just a random thought. I hope you are both better soon!

    Hugs,

  11. With the change in the weather, maybe a bit too much zoomie activity? We sure hope both you and Phoenix are doing much better tomorrow. It is nice to have sympathy for each other, but no more sharing the pain.

  12. Zona I hope you feel better. It does sound like a muscle strain - rest up girl, demand some good cookies, take in a few belly rubs and take a window sunshine bath! That ought to get you feeling a bit better.

  18. Oooh, Zona. This is most disturbing and worrisome. If there's no injury causing it at all and it's just inflammation or something then you can't do better than glucosamine and choindroiton. Blog Mom had a boxer/lab mix girl at one time (before me, Lola) and she started getting painful hip problems at a relatively young age. She gave her that and it cleared up 100% and into the doggy's old age.

In any case, I hope you feel all better really soon.

    lotsa licks, Lola
