The One with the Surprise

Nope, not THAT surprise! You think I'd tell you the big surprise almost a month early?? You still have to wait for that... though maybe I'll let another clue slip out this week.

Yesterday was HOT. Blazing! We mostly spent time in our beach while the two leggers swam in the pool. But we weren't allowed to stay outside too long.

Today was even hotter so we were inside again. I think my thermometer on my blog is acting up. This is the temperature at 2:47 this afternoon:

Phoenix didn't mind at all. She just spent the morning on her princess pillow.

The SURPRISE today was that I got up with mom and papa to get in the car. That's always a red flag. We dropped papa off at work and mom and I continued on to Dr. Mitchell's office. Alone. I didn't have my sister's as backup this time. That always makes me even more uneasy. Luckily when Dr. Mitchell comes into the room I do relax. A little bit. A teeny little bit but still it's something!

I got my annual shots (limited as they are) and have some medicine to take for some pesky bacteria that makes my chin itch. I need a booster for the Lyme vaccine in 2-4 weeks. At first mom figured I'd go to work with her and swing by in the afternoon but then they decided that Dr. Mitchell and her family would try to come out here so we could all have a BBQ to soften the prick of the shot. As my longtime readers know, I have the best vet EVER.

When we got home, we noticed the first tiger lily has bloomed!

Yesterday papa brought mom the first of the stargazer lilies.

Too bad the screen isn't scratch and sniff - they smell so interesting!

I hope everyone had a happy and safe Independence Day!

  3. Pretty flowers. I must have missed something impawtent, or else the heat is making me forgetful. I don't think I knew that we were waiting for a big surprise - in a month? That's a long time to wait. Don't you think you're in danger of bursting from holding it in all that time? Be careful about that.

  5. Oh, OK. I see the mentions of the surprise and the countdown clock. I think I was just focused on the other parts of those posts. But now I'm focused on the surprise like a laser beam. Does it have anything to do with cheese? I've found that some of the best surprises involve cheese.

  13. Hi - a good vet is vital - we love our vet, he speaks to us in a friendly way and gives us treats and tells us that we're handsome so obviously we enjoy seeing him! We feel for you with the heat - it's scorching here and we don't like it much - we're not allowed out in it for long either, not that we want to be out there when it's like this. Beautiful photos of flowers - FH loved them! Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.

Moms always think they are sneaky but I think the idea of a BBQ is brilliant. I think your vet visit deserves a nice burger on the grill!!! I think your tiger lillies are super beautiful.

  18. I wish the screen was sniff able too!
I am sure you were very brave and didn't even jump for those nasty shots. And these days they last longer too.
Wow- even now the temp on your page reads almost 100. It was close to 90 here yesterday, that's really hot for this place. I was worried about the big black dogs, and it was the white one that seemed to suffer most. (Not the little white one.) So his sister curled up next to him for moral support (sisters can be nice) and I (mom) use a spray bottle to mist him cooler.
Glad to report this morning he is much better.
Would be nice if we had a great beach for them like you enjoy.

  23. Why is that car rides without the brothers and sisters always end up somewhere like the vet?
