The One with Cali

Sweet Cali did wonderfully at Dr. Mitchell's office on Monday. She had a long day though! It started with a full grooming session to thin out her winter coat in order to get ready for spring (and to help her skin breathe to speed up the goodbye to that pesky skin infection!).

Then she had her teeth cleaned, with a few extractions. She is still feeling pretty woozy but I think that's the effect of the pain medication. She certainly hasn't lost her appetite! I'm not sure if Cali has ever turned down a meal. She must get that from mom.

Because her mouth is still sore, Cali's dinner is mostly wet food. Lucky! Phoenix and I get little bits on top of our kibble since we've perfected sad eyes and just the right amount of drool when mom is mixing up Cali's meal.

I'm sure Cali will feel back to her old, happy-Cali self in a few days. We can't wait! In the meantime, Phoenix and I keep checking on her and giving her kisses. Soon we'll all be back to playing chase in the backyard!

DISCLAIMER: the next two photos are not for the squeamish.

This is a before and after of Cali's teeth. Didn't they clean up nicely? You'll notice one lower molar is missing. This is the tooth that started it all. Dr. Mitchell and mom knew it had to come out but needed to wait until her asthma was controlled. Luckily, it didn't seem to bother her much, if at all. Now, once she heals, she won't even notice it's missing!
