The One with the Fall Weather

So the news today has said our weather on this last day of August is more like October! I can vouch for that. It's about 9 p.m., completely dark by the way, and mom has the screen door open with a cool breeze flowing through the house.

Mom got home from work and took us for a nice stroll, during which Phoenix spent a bit of time rolling in perfume. She was promptly bathed. Once again, mom doesn't understand us! Papa will be home tomorrow - we just want to smell pretty for him!

For now, we're all enjoying our new bones. Cali and Phoenix more-so than I am but I have been known to test it out. They really love them though!!

Now we're just snuggling and counting the hours until our trip north to the Airstream rally later this week!

The One Where We are Home

We're home! It was a fast weekend but lots of fun!

We arrived at Westmoreland State Park on Thursday evening. We had the whole area to ourselves! It was lots of fun. Since it was deserted, Cali and I got to be off-lead a lot during our walks. I love that! My two-leggers walk too slow for my taste so I was able to run ahead to check things out.

Phoenix still has moments when her terrier instincts take over so she was on the long line. I don't think she noticed!

That night papa served Mahi Mahi and the two-leggers sat by the campfire. We pups took a snooze in the Argosy.

On Friday, we took a nice morning stroll and then mom and papa headed down to Fossil Beach. It was still a bit warm so we stayed behind. Mom was able to read a book and papa found many, many shark teeth!

They returned for lunch and then we all got to go for a walk down by the river. What fun!

We stayed at the river until the storm rolled in from sea.

Back at the Airstream, we hung out under the awning during the rain. It's not a family camping trip without a storm!

This morning brought more shark tooth hunting and a few more loops around the camp site.

Phoenix enjoyed a natural agility event!

Before we knew it, papa was writing in the Airstream Travel Journal mom got him and then we were unhooking and headed for home! What a fast but great trip we had! Next weekend we're off to an Airstream Rally in NY. Cali is very excited... I'm... well, a bit nervous. Lots of two-leggers are expected! We get to stay a bit longer though, so that's good news!

The One After a While

Wow, is it Thursday already?! Things have been busy around here. Mom has been working mostly but she has spent some time with her laptop on the patio, giving us lots of time to enjoy this last bit of summer. Here are some pictures from the last few days!

Phoenix has been trying to dig a hole to China these days! The two-leggers say it's okay, that's what our beach is for, but she sure makes a mess while Cali and I are trying to rest!

Our fish...

These are our Mafia Wars faces:

On Tuesday, the two-leggers had to work late so our great friend Lisa, the Crazy Cat Lady, came to visit us. She took us for walks and fed us dinner! It was so nice of her to come over!! Mom and papa went to dinner in D.C. to avoid some of the late afternoon traffic.

The restaurant!

Yesterday mom treated us to Wholesome Hide USA Retriever Rolls. They are a much safer alternative to the usual rawhide rolls. She read about them in the Whole Dog Journal. They are made from one thick piece of rawhide, making them less of a choking hazard and longer lasting. In addition, they are from American cattle and 100% US made. They are free from dyes, flavoring, chemicals and other harmful processes. I have to admit, I'm not sold yet. But Cali and Phoenix are definitively obsessed with them!

I think you're caught up! Today will be a busy day! Papa is at training today, mom is working and has an eye doctor appointment this afternoon and THEN we are heading out for another weekend of camping in the Argosy. When Cali noticed mom putting some things in the trailer earlier, she bounced around the driveway like a puppy! That's not until later though. I will surely update you! For now, I'm going to crawl back into bed and let mom take over the computer to start her work projects. Until next time . . .

The Two Hundred and First

WOW! My two hundred and first blog post. Thank you for sticking in there with me.

Life here has been pretty quiet the last few days. Papa made his famous Pico de Gallo yesterday. This picture doesn't do it justice. It smells wonderful and I hear it's very tasty. And all made with veggies from our garden!

Meanwhile, mom's been catching up on work - both professional and household. Papa had to go back to work today after being off for two days. The fog hung around for quite awhile this morning, as did this spider web! Can you see it?

We all are suffering with allergies, even papa, which isn't too unusual this time of year. But thankfully, Cali is feeling better! We're not sure what upset her tummy but it seems to be working itself out of her system.

It rained most of the day so we were stuck inside. Boorrinngg....

This is my favorite way to sleep in my crate. I've slept this way since I was a puppy!
